With colder temperatures, the friction between peak district gritstone and your hands and feet increases, giving climbers the edge on routes at the limit of their ability. It’s no coincidence that at this time of year the comparatively short routes of the Peak District are at their busiest as climbers chose 10-15m bursts of delicate, rewarding climbing over long mountain routes lost in the mist.
Wilderness Development is recruiting volunteers to provide one day’s Whitewater Safety and Rescue cover at the BUCS whitewater race. The date is Saturday 9 April 2016 at the river Washburn. Ideally you’ll hold the WWSR qualification but this isn’t essential and if you have any level of training or rescue experience we will find a job that suits you. We do our very best to look after the volunteers, because we couldn’t put on the event without you.
